Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

You need to create a sequential number as Reference Number in a BI Publisher (BIP) report.
Each time the report is generated it will show a unique sequential number (Reference Number) in the report.

This "Reference Number" field is not fetched from application.

Hence you do not have any field to query in the data model.

Example of Reference Number :

Date: 31/07/2016
Employee No: 1234
Reference Number: HRO/16/123

123 should come from a sequence.

For first time report run it should give "HRO/16/123" as the value of "Reference Number" field. For next run it should give "HRO/16/124" as the value of new "Reference Number " field. So that for every report run it gives a unique sequence.
