Automate Change in Position Manager while existing Manager is terminated

As of now customer is using the Position Manager functionality where, if a Manager is assigned to the Position, during a transfer case, a employee assigned a position will automatically get the manager populated attached to the position.
In case if the manager attached to the position is terminated, is there a way where we can automatically assign a different employee as a manager to the position?
Requirement is to automate the system without manually assigning manager to the position.
