Symptoms

There are inconsistencies when saving a second batch of financial periods in an empty P6 EPPM database. When attempting to save the second financial period, P6 will throw the following error even though the dates are NOT overlapping:

The financial period you are attempting to create cannot overlap with an existing financial period.

Additionally, after the original financial period is created, the end date changes by one day. For example, if the end of the period is set to 'March 31st', it will change to 'March 30th' once it is saved.

This issue can be replicated by performing the following steps:

  1. Create an EMPTY 16.2.4.0 database.
  2. Connect to 16.2.4.0 P6 EPPM environment.
  3. Login to P6 Web Access then go to 'Administer > Enterprise Data > Global > Financial Periods'.
  4. Create a financial period then save.
  5. Attempt to create a second financial period then save. The error will be thrown.
