Custom object: What is needed to delete/update a record via import?

Goal
We have a requirement to Update/Delete the records for Custom Objects through File Import, without using the 'Record Name' field as reference.
We understand that the 'Record Name' field acts as unique identifier for the record to be Updated/Deleted.
Kindly confirm if we can Update/Delete a record in Custom Object without referring to 'Record Name' through File Import.
