Too Many Matching Error In Item Search

When searching items, the following error is thrown:

Too many matching records found. Specify additional criteria to limit the number of records

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1) Product Management -> Product information Management
2) Search Item -> Go to Specifications tab
3) Click on Item Revision context (Context Name LOV)
