Recurring Appointments Lose Information When The Series Is Updated

When a user creates a recurring appointment, they can add notes to each appointment. But if a month later they decide to change the series to change the day of the week or the time it then erases all data that was entered in the previous appointments and loses all historical data.
How to resolve this ?
