"Creation Date" not showing under Opportunity (Doc ID 2278142.1)

Symptoms

On : 11.1.11.1.0 version, Opportunities

Customized Field Gone Missing

Created a custom field called: "Creation Date" which was accessible in the Opportunities screen.
When users perform a search, advanced search, or pull up an existing opportunity this field is blank.

ERROR

Exception in expression "OpportunityEO.CreationDate_c".java.llang.NullPointerException : null at "OpportunityEO.CreationDate_c" expression line 5

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create a new Opportunity - or open an existing one;
2. Unable to see the "Creation Date", which automatically pops up when clicking on Create Opportunity.
3. Also, error pop up.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot see the "Creation Date", which automatically pops up when clicking on create or edit a new Opportunity.
