Error/Warning TCHV-0844-B When Importing Excel File Into P6 Client

When attempting to import a spreadsheet template into the P6 client, generated from P6 Web, the following error occurs:


An application event has been intercepted. Please note the event code for reference.
Event code TCHV-0844-B

Press OK, continues like normal.

  The ':' character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be
  included in a name.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Log into P6 Web.
2. Ensure there is a user defined activity field in the dictionary that contains a : character such as Contract: Price
3. Click the download button on the activities view to download the view to excel (or if using the classic view, the same sheet can be generated using: Actions -> Import/Export->Create Import Template.
4. Attempt to import the file into the P6 EPPM Client.
5. Observe the error.
6. Use the client export feature to generate an excel file.
7. Attempt to import the file.
8. Observe the import completes successfully.


The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot use the P6 Web export feature to create an excel template for importing into the client.
