R12 Upgrade: Currency Precision Is Not Working

Following Release 12 Upgrade, the Currency precision is not working correctly.
Though the Currency precision is set to 4 in the Manage Currencies task, when going to the Opportunity record page, the Currency field shows only 2 decimals, not 4

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. log into application > go to Sales > Opportunities
2. Edit an opportunity record: the Currency field [renamed Overall Booking Value - Local Currency(Mn)] shows values 5,927.27 (2 decimals)
