In Chile, all inhabitants have a unique national identifier (known by its acronym, RUT (Rol Unico Tribuitario), which consists of a sequence of numbers, plus a verifying digit that is mathematically calculated) This identifier is very relevant and must be used by all employees when interacting with their employers and with all institutions, whether they are private or public. Because of this, all employees must have this employee identifier (RUT) correctly entered in their administration and compensation systems, ensuring that the entered sequence is completely accurate (complete, accurate digits, that the RUT is not repeated, etc.) Validation of the number and the verification digit is necessary to avoid mistakes in data entry.
Oracle provides partial validation for Chile RUT Validation. Please see below:
N – Number
C – Check-digit, which is a value between zero and nine or “k”.
Format validation - no check-digit validation
The check-digit validation is currently not provided. The check-digit follows an algorithm to determine that the RUT (Rol Unico Tribuitario / Unique Taxpayer Role) has been entered correctly. We would like to request validation for check-digit also to maintain integrity of employee data.
