Symptoms

record.type dimension missing in guidedNavigationViewModel

We have been having issues with getting the record.type dimension to surface in search results. The following has been added to the endeca configuration through the API (/attributes/system/_.json) to our environment versioned at 17.3.1

  "record.type": {
  "multiSelectType": "NONE",
  "ecr:lastModifiedBy": "admin",
  "ecr:lastModified": "2017-04-21T11:07:13.762-06:00",
  "mergeAction": "UPDATE",
  "displayOrder": 1,
  "isAutogen": true,
  "ecr:createDate": "2017-04-21T11:07:13.416-06:00",
  "ecr:type": "dimension"
  }

A baseline index was invoked and completed successfully and a full publish was done. The record.type did get listed as a facet in the Index Fields settings through Admin Panel, but the dimension does not surface in the guidedNavigationViewModel.

Changes

record.type is an internal property that is not exposed to the UI. Customer had a business case to make record.type a Dimension. As such they modified the /gsadmin/v1/cloud/attributes REST method to list record.type as a Dimension in the ECR repository
