Participant Plan Document Approval Workflow Notification Gets Reassigned to Wrong User. What is The Difference Between Reassign And Delegate Action? (Doc ID 2333608.1)

Symptoms

Manager is not available so the workflow notification was REASSIGN.
Reassign feature behaved differently and routed the workflow to unexpected recipients.
The reassigned notification started following the hierarchy of the person who it was reassigned to once that person approves instead of going back to the participant.

 

Scenario / Step

Plan document approval level is set to 1 for supervisor hierarchy.

Participant is Javier
His supervisor is Frederique

The plan document approval was submitted for participant Javier.
The notification gets assigned to Javier's supervisor is Frederique.
Frederique is not available so notification was reassign to the compensation administrator ( Analyst) Sheryl.
Sheryl approves the notification and the notification should have reroute back to the participant Javier to approve.
Instead, the notification was sent to Sheryl's supervisor Tammy ( ie. going up a different hierarchy ).
