Purpose

The following document outlines the procedures for patching the Grid Infrastructure software in your Exadata Cloud Service and verifying clusterware voting file health in preparation for upcoming Exadata Infrastructure update that will be performed by Oracle.

Scope

This document applies to customers using the Exadata Cloud Service in OCI or OCI-C that are using Grid Infrastructure 12.2.0.1.  This document does not apply to customers using Grid Infrastructure 12.1.0.2.

NOTE: Although this document does not apply to customers using Grid Infrastructure 12.1.0.2, it is a recommended practice to maintain up-to-date software for the Grid Infrastructure home and all database homes.

 Step 1 - Login as the opc user
 Step 2 - Switch to the grid user
 Step 3 - Connect to ASM and verify ASM version
 Step 4 - Identify all voting files
 Step 5 - Check voting file health
 Step 6 - If necessary, fix unhealthy voting files
 Step 7 - Ensure Grid Infrastructure is updated to the latest Release Update
