Custom script error written twice in the pop-up message when clicking on 'Save and Close'

Goal

Customer has a Before Update in Database script added to Account object which needs to be triggered as per defined conditions within it. When it is triggered, a custom exception is thrown: 'The user does not have the privilege to edit the Account Primary Address. Please click on OK and then click on Cancel'.

If 'Save' button is hit, then the exception is thrown as expected:

If 'Save and Close' button is hit, then in the exception the message is written twice:
