OAC: Analytics Reports Fail With "ORA-12152 TNS Unable To Send Break Message"

With an Oracle Database Cloud Service data source ...
In the RPD, the Database Type is "Oracle 12c" ... the Connection Pool Call Interface is "Default (OCI 10g/11g)" ... and the Data Source Name is an Oracle Client alias (which is defined in the tnsnames.ora file).
In Analytics, a simple analysis with one attribute column and one metric column executes successfully and returns results. But, add any second (or more) metric column (from a different fact table) to the same report, and the report will fail after 15 minutes with the following error thrown onscreen:-
[nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 12152, message: ORA-12152: TNS:unable to send break message at OCI call OCIStmtExecute.
In the obis1-query.log file, we see the Physical SQL is generated and is "sent" to the database, but it is never received at the Oracle database for execution. The following error is observed in the log file:-
