How To Default The Role Type When Creating Contact In Customer UI, As There Is Only One Value Available ? (Doc ID 2367691.1)

When creating a customer contact from the UI / application, the user will have to select Role Type field value as Contact. This field is NOT marked as required.
If this is not selected, the system would not send out the transactions / statements / dunning letters to the contact point.
Also once the contact is saved, this field greys out and user cannot select the value again. Contact has to be deleted and a new one is to be created which is unnecessary overhead.

How to default this value for Role Type when a contact is created in the UI ?
