Global Search Not Working For Assets

Symptoms

On : 11.13.17.09.0 version, Accounts, Contacts

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
The customer has global search working for all objects; however, the Assets global search does not return any data. The main field in question is the Serial Number. They have checked Manage Search View Objects and it is enabled and the Serial Number is included. The customer has tried full re-indexing the Assets object, but the search does not work.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Global search on the Assets should work just like any other objects.

Replication Steps
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login into the application as Sales Representative or Sales Manager user
2. Search for an Asset using its serial number via Global Search
