Fields and Views: Contact Field Does Not Update Correctly When Picklist Value Contains a Comma

When using a picklist where the option value contains any commas, when the contact field is configured as a multi-select picklist, the form submission is recorded on the contact field as separate values.
A picklist has an entry with an option value of "x,y,z".
A form using that picklist has a processing step to update the contact with form data.
The picklist field is mapped to a contact field that has a field type configured as a multi-select picklist.
On submission, the picklist value is recorded as "x::y::z" instead of "x,y,z".
