"config.sh" Tool Fails if the JDBC URL Used for Extending the Domain Contains DESCRIPTION Syntax (Doc ID 2379140.1)

Last updated on JUNE 23, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator Cloud Service - Version 17.1.3 and later
Oracle Data Integrator - Version 11.1.1.7.0 and later
Data Integration Platform Cloud - Version 17.3.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The following error is received when executing the "config.sh" tool to extend the Domain in on-premise Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or Oracle Data Integrator Cloud Services (ODI-CS):

a fatal error has occurred:
com.oracle.cie.wizard.tasks.TaskExecutionException: Task [com.oracle.cie.wizard.domain.gui.tasks.ShadowTableConfigurationGUITask] execution aborted, no datasource found

Note the JDBC data source configured in $DOMAIN/config/jdbc/LocalSvcTblDataSource-jdbc.xml uses a connection string such as:

jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=x.x.x.x)(PORT=xxxx))...

For reproducing the behavior in ODI-CS, follow the Provisioning Oracle Data Integrator Cloud Service guide:

http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/cloud/javaservice/JCS/FMW_UpperStack_on_JCS/odi_on_jcs_obe_17_1_3/odi_on_jcs_17_1_3.html#section3s5

     and:

  1. Complete the steps up to "Updating the Java Cloud Service Domain".
  2. On task #4 in above section, run the "config.sh", and observe the error message.

Note the same behavior equally affects on-premise and cloud installations of ODI (including ODICS, DIPC and ADIPC).
