How long does the image stay in Web Center - Can the default setting be changed

Invoice images would be available in IPM server and not in webcenter.
Whenever you try to access the image via the invoice, internally system retrieves the data from the IPM server.

Question is:
1.In Webcenter, how long the invoice image stays in queue.
Is there a default setting ? OR do you recommend to Purge when we run the import process? there is an option to PURGE when we import.

2. If an invocie is once imported, and it stays in Webcneter - and if the import process is run again - does it import the SAME invoice again ?
