Compensation-Create a dynamic column based upon the standard column:Compensation Performance Rating

The requirement is to create a dynamic columns based upon the performance rating

When Performance rating is “Unsatisfactory” the “Recommendation By Performance Level” is 0%, when the Performance rating is “Need Improvement” the “Recommendation By Performance Level” is 0 to 1%...
I can achieve this using custom columns , but I am not able to achieve the same when I use the standard column "Compensation Performance Rating Current.

In consequence, the customer can not used all the standard report in the compensation sheet based upon performance rating.

It seems the the standard column "Compensation Performance Rating" can not be used to add dynamic behavior. Can you confirm or infirm this?
