To begin, refer to the traffic flow image in the Overview of Load Balancing page of Oracle's Load Balancer documentation.

There is a need to understand how internet web traffic flows for an application hosted on Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure(OCI).  The application is hosted on two web servers running behind a Bare Metal OCI Load Balancer (LB).  The understanding is that internet traffic enters the Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) via the OCI load balancer and then the LB routes the traffic to backend servers.  The Internet Gateway (IGW) is not used for incoming internet traffic. The Internet Gateway is only used if any resources within the VCN need to reach out to the internet.  But the traffic flow diagram above shows that incoming internet traffic also enters via IGW.

Please clarify.
