Transparent Image (PNG File) Within A BI Publisher Report Displays A White Background When Rendered Within A PDF Output Format (Doc ID 2396612.1)

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
After uploading and adding an image to a BI Publisher report (where the image insert to report was done using the "Select the image from a local directory" option):

The image renders correctly in all the following output formats:

The image does not render correctly in the following output format and instead generates a white background:


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
When running/displaying a BI Publisher report which contains an image logo header. the image should render correctly when displayed within PDF output format.

STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. 1. First ensure the report is configured to display interactive and pdf output formats:
    1. Login to BI Publisher
    2. Select the Catalog link
    3. Browse to the catalog location which contains the report
    4. Select Edit on the report
    5. Select 'view a list'
    6. In the output formats grouping, select the dropdown for the report
    7. Ensure the following formats are selected: Interactive, PDF
    8. Select Save
  2. View the report in interactive format:
    1. Select the Catalog link
    2. Select Open on the report
    3. Select the Interactive output format
    4. Note the report displays with the image files
  3. View the report in PDF format:
    1. While the report is already open from step 2, select the output format dropdown
    2. Select PDF from the dropdown
    3. Note the report display and the image logo missing from the report (which did display properly in step 2)
