Running Period End Validations Throws The Warning "Pending interface" (Doc ID 2399212.1)

When attempting to run the period close validations for cost accounting, the following validation exception is shown

 Pending interface

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1.Navigate to Costing > Manage Costing Periods
2. Search for period and click View Period Details
3. Click on View Exceptions
1. Navigator -> Cost Accounting -> Manage Cost Accounting Periods.
2. Select Period
3. Go to Action and Close Period
4. View exception shows "Pending interface"
5. Select Period and click View Period Details
6. Click on View Exceptions
7. All pending transactions along with the source can be seen
