Deprecation of the Key Flex Field for Product Information Management Catalogs (Doc ID 2407355.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 24, 2019

Information in this document applies to any platform.

In Release 12 the Oracle Product Information Management product removed the key flexfield primary keys to the catalog and category function. The key flexfield key was replaced with a simple attribute called “Category Code” that provides a unique code for a category. This attribute was sized to allow the user to enter a very large character string. The KFF segment data columns in the catalog base catalog are still in the tables but are no longer being used.

The reason for the change in R12 is to simplify the setup of catalog and to move to using the category hierarchy to model classification schema.
