'ID Is Not a Valid Value for the Picker' Error (Doc ID 2413591.1)

The picker in question auto-populates from a single record BP, and displays as the ID on the form.
When the user attempts to send the record, it throws the following error:

Unable to create Business Process record

[IDNumber] is invalid value for [PickerName].
