Recurring Bill Plan Different Default End Date?

Is it possible to amend the default Contract End Date of recurring bill plans? Currently it is defaulting to sysdate and is a mandatory field but client always need their recurring bills to be never-ending so if we can't make non-mandatory, can we change default date to far future?
