Cost Accounting Processes Throw Error "A Connection to the Server Has Failed. (Status=504)" (Doc ID 2418269.1)

When attempting to open Review Cost Accounting Processes UI (User Interface), or Manage Cost Accounting Periods UI, the following error occurs after sometime.
A connection to the server has failed. (status=504)

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate Costing > Cost Accounting
2. Tasklist > Review Cost Accounting Processes
3. After sometime, the error above is thrown on the screen.
