Generic System Error When Attempting to Publish a Custom Print/Report After Updating Data Model

Symptoms

After changing a Custom Report/Print to Draft status, editing the internal data model and moving the status back to Published, a system error is displayed and the report/print cannot be published:

ERROR

The following error is seen in the Unifier user interface:
"The system could not process your request. Logging in again my help in some cases. Contact your System Administrator if you are still having problems".

The Unifier log file contains the following error:
Error: Failed to load /UnifierReports/unifier/uuu_##/uuu_##.xdm

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Login to Unifier as an Administrator user.
  2. Company Workspace -> Configuration
  3. Custom Templates
  4. Select a Custom Print or Report
  5. Change the status to 'Draft'
  6. Edit the report
  7. Change the status to 'Published'
  8. Observe the error.
