Last updated on FEBRUARY 23, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A to N/A [Release 1.0]
OCI Compute - Version N/A to N/A [Release 1.0]
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

          - Suddenly unable to ssh into an instance only with opc user in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

          - Able to ssh with any other user as an application user.

          - The same key is used to ssh with the other users and works with out issues.

          - Errors from the /var/log/secure (collected via maintenance mode)

Jul 6 15:42:08 INSTANCE sshd[2141]: User opc from 100.100.100.x not allowed

Changes

The AllowUsers parameter already had the opc user by default but there are seeing some cases that the user in question is removed by mistake causing ssh issues.

Typo errors in AllowUsers might cause ssh issues too.
