Item Batch Import Integration with ICS Unsuccessful Without Any Error Or Logs

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Item batch import with one item using Item Batch Maintenance SOAP web services (integration via ICS) -> batch is created successfully and no errors are shown. When trying to import the batch, no errors are shown in the UI or logs but Item is not imported.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Item would be imported or process would end in error with message explaining what needs to be corrected.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create Item Batch and add an Item to the Batch using Item Batch Maintenance SOAP web services
2. Run the Item Batch import
