"Is Blank" Operator Is Not Working In Account Advanced Search For Search Field "Parent Account"

How to search using Parent Account = blank search criteria?
"Is Blank" search operator is not working in Account Advanced Search for the search field "Parent Account".
On searching for Accounts for which "Parent Account" field is blank, we are not getting any results. Even though relevant Account records are available and should show up.
1. Go to Accounts Work Area.
2. Go to Advanced Search. Use following criteria in advanced search:
a. Record Set: Equals: All records I can see
b. Parent Account: Is blank
c. Type: Equals: Customer
3. This search criterion doesn’t return any result even though there are Account records which fulfill these criteria.
