Error: "Exceeded Configured Maximum Number of Allowed Output Prompts, Sections, Rows, or columns." When Exporting Analysis or Dashboard to Excel

Symptoms

When attempting to export a dashboard page to excel, the export fails to export any data into the excel file and instead contains the following incomplete error text:

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Login to OBIEE
  2. Click the dashboard dropdown and select the dashboard link you wish to load
  3. Once the dashboard renders:
    1. Click Page Options > Export to Excel > Export Current Page
    2. When the prompt to save the file occurs, select a location
    3. Open the file and note that no data was exported and the excel file includes the "Error generating..." text

The OBIEE presentation server log file (located within $OBIEE_Domain/bi/servers/obips#/logs/sawlog#.log) generates the following error when this occurs:
