Requesting an explanation of the delivered HCM approval rules.

This is a 'how to' or 'explain' request for the delivered HCM workflow approval rules. I have looked in help, and on knowledge and I do not see a comprehensive list of these transactions and what they do, how the differ from each other, and what components trigger. Some of the rules are self-explanatory. Others, not so much. Example: The difference between Administer Salary and Manage Salary. These are both rules. Another example: New Assignment, Change Assignment, and Change Employment.
