Not Able To Change The Canonical <link> Tag In The Header To Something Other Then The Site Base URL (Doc ID 2431125.1)

Symptoms

Each page includes in its header a canonical <link> tag that points to the Site Base URL set via the Admin console > Settings > Setup > Site Base URL. 

However, there does not appear to be a setting or method to set the canonical tag to something other then the Site Base URL
