Changes made to individual compensation were being bypassed for approval.
As of 18B, Compensation Self-Service Pages were Redesigned. managers and employees now use the streamlined interface to create, update and delete individual compensation details on the same page. Previously you had to make these transactions in a dialog box.
With that comes the new approval task named "Manage Personal Contributions" and replaces the "Manage Individual Compensation" approval task for Self-Service transactions.
