getWebForm(formObject, "PDF") function erroring randomly until a server restart (Doc ID 2444791.1)

When using the getWebform function (such as getWebForm(formObject, "PDF")) it may randomly fail after some time  until a server restart with the following error:

oracle.bpm.bpmn.engine.model.runtime.microinstructions.TrappableException: faultName: {{}subLanguageExecutionFault}
messageType: {{}RuntimeFaultMessage}
cause: {XPath expression failed to execute.
An error occurs while processing the XPath expression; the expression is bpm:getWebform(bpmn:getDataObject('submitFormDataObject'), 'PDF').
The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: ORABPEL-77008

Web form snapshot error.

Error occurred while taking snapshot for form submitForm. Payload mapping to the form failed
Contact oracle support to resolve the issue.
Check the detailed root cause described in the exception message text and verify that the XPath query is correct.

In the logs we see the below error:
