ODI Studio Fails with "The connection is closed" Error Message if Left Unattended or Idle (Doc ID 2445750.1)

Symptoms

After ten minutes of inactivity, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Studio disconnects from the repositories and fails with the following error message:

java.sql.SQLException: The connection is closed: The connection is closed
