System not recognizing Cross-Reference Item Names when trying to perform a misc transaction

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

System does recognize the cross-referenced item number when trying to perform a misc transaction

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create a cross-reference relationship for item number
2. Attempt to perform a misc transaction with the newly created cross-reference item number
3. Note the newly created cross-reference item number is not recognized for the misc transaction
