OAC: Opening A Project With Multiple Subject Areas Throws "Error Loading Data" Error (Doc ID 2461561.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Analytics Cloud Service - Version 18.1.3 to 18.2.1 [Release 18]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

A DV Project is created with visualizations from two (2) different Data Sets. For example:

1. Create > Project > Add Data Set > Subject Areas > Donations > Add to Project
Select Donations.School.School Geo State and Donations.Facts.# of Schools
Drag and Drop the selected columns into Canvas 1

2. Add Canvas 2 to the Project
In Data Elements > Add Data Set > Subject Areas > Sample App > Add to Project
    Select SampleApp.Time.Year and SampleApp.Revenue Metrics.Revenue
Drag and Drop the selected columns into Canvas 2

3. Save the Project

After a system restart, open the Project and see a dialog window will display with the following:-

Error Loading Data
The following items could not be found. These will be removed.

See the items listed are all columns or calculations on columns that are not from the "first" Data Set. For example, the columns are from the Sample App dataset.

Close the Project (browser tab) without acknowledging the error or saving the Project.

After some time, open the same Project.  Either the same error may be thrown, but with a lesser number of items listed, or the Project will eventually open without throwing the Error.

This issue is only observed with Projects that contain more than one Data Set.
