Error:" Unauthorized message (Error 401)" When Using The Prime Projects Rest API (Doc ID 2462142.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 29, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Prime Cloud Service - Version 18.1 to 18.9 [Release 18.1 to 18.9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Prime API will sometimes return "Unauthorized message (Error 401)" when calling the REST API.

ERROR

Unauthorized message (Error 401)

The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials, then the 401 response indicates that authorization has been refused for those credentials. If the 401 response contains the same challenge as the prior response, and the user agent has already attempted authentication at least once, then the user SHOULD be presented the entity that was given in the response, since that entity MAY include relevant diagnostic information. HTTP access authentication is explained in section 11.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Call any REST API
  2. Observe the function completes
  3. Call same REST API some time later
  4. Observe the function fails
