Inbound and outbound Files and Waves Are Not Getting Processed / Imported

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Inbound files are being placed into the SFTP folder and are not being processed (imported) . They remain in the same folder after a while. Similar issue is happening with outbound files, they are not getting placed into the SFTP folder.
For waves, the execute wave UI screen shows confirmation of the wave submission but when checking in wave inquiry it does not show up.
