Removing Attachment in JET UI Throws Error [Reference record for the attribute does not exist] (Doc ID 2514660.1)

In JET UI, when a file is uploaded to a quote through a File Attachment attribute, the link to the document shows when the upload completes, along with the link to remove it. After attaching a document, then clicking Remove before performing a Modify action which saves the quote, the document appears to be removed. However, upon the next save action, an error shows:

You have attempted an action that could not be completed. Please verify if the service is available, or contact your site administrator if this issue persists.
Details: "Reference record for the attribute _______ does not exist


 In the Legacy UI, the Remove checkbox only showed after the attachment had been saved to the quote. In JET UI, the Remove link shows immediately, even though the attachment hasn't yet been saved to the quote.
