Server Patching For Instances Running On Oracle SOA Cloud Services (Doc ID 2519490.1)

Last updated on MAY 15, 2023

Applies to:

SOA Suite Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Server Patching for instances running on Oracle SOA Cloud Services.

What is the best practice for doing OS Patching (Oracle Linux) for VMs built on Oracle SOA Cloud Services?

We are aware that SOA patches will be found in the Oracle Cloud Dashboard (SOA Cloud Service -> Instance -> Administration -> Patching).

It was mention in a documentation (Platform as a Service (PaaS)/SOA Cloud Service) that to keep the instances manageable, apply only patches that are available through Oracle SOA Cloud Service and do not apply patches from any other source.

How is the Operating System of VMs running on Oracle Cloud being patched?

Our instances are running on Oracle Linux. Please provide us Oracle doc to follow so we won`t deviate from the standard way and avoid issues to SOA.

Additional question is should we be installing security patches inside the operating system using yum or we should only use the patches that are found on Oracle Cloud Dashboard?
