What Is The Purpose Of Field GL Date On "Create Receipts" Screen? (Doc ID 2527469.1)

On : 11.13.18.10.0 version, Receiving

What is the purpose of field GL Date on "Create Receipts" screen?

Consider the below Scenario:

1) Created PO for Item 
2) At the time of receiving, entered Receipt Date as 1-Mar-2018 and GL Date as 9-Mar-2019
3) Created Cost accounting Distributions

Found that Receipt Date is the Transaction Date, as well as Costing date, as well as Accounting Date.

So what is the purpose of the GL date?  They do not have any Inventory Periods or Purchasing Periods in Cloud, what is the impact of GL Period field?
