Purpose
It might be very tempting to create a compensation plan with end-date years in the future.
However, this has an impact on your overall performance for Calculation and Deploy Compensation Plan jobs.
When a compensation plan is assigned to the participant, the system will create assignment records to keep track the attainments.
The number of SRP records created are roughly :
# of compensation plan X # of plan components X # of performance measures X # of periods X # of participants
Example :
A compensation plan has 35 plan components.
Each plan components have 2 performance measures.
The Compensation Plan has date range from 1/1/2019 - 12/31/2025.
The calendar is a monthly calendar.
This compensation plan will be assigned to 4199 participants.
The number of SRP records generated = 1 X 35 plan components X 2 performance measures X ( 12 months X 6 years ) X 4199 participants = 21,162,960
Versus if the compensation plan is assigned for only 1 year date range :
1 X 35 plan components X 2 performance measures X ( 12 months X 1 years ) X 4199 participants = 3,527,160
Versus if the calendar is WEEKLY period and compensation plan is assigned for 1 year :
1 X 35 plan components X 2 performance measures X ( 52 weeks X 1 years ) X 4199 participants = 15,284,360
This document will provide steps on how to easily duplicate and manage the compensation plan assignment.
