Last updated on DECEMBER 03, 2019

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Want Enhancement Request to allow an automatic/systematic process to reserve a specific reel to a specific client and/order as soon as the order is created with a specific Reel ID, even if the order is not yet due to be interfaced to WMS. (e.g. based on SHIP DATE)

Inventory Attributes to be controlled at IBLPN Type level.

Allocation process:
The allocation of a reel(s) begins with sales finding a part number. Once the part number is found, the order entry system will display a list of reels that are available for sale in the warehouse. The sales rep will choose a warehouse and a reel of their choosing.

That Reel ID will be associated to the order line and that order will be sent to the warehouse for allocation against the WMS inventory. Within the set of business processes, the WMS chooses a specific inventory record (i.e. LPN) based on business rules.

Allocation rules: are outlined as follows - The following rules dictate which reels are candidates for selection:

The Reel’s LPN of the inventory must match the Reel’s LPN of the order line.
Multiple orders can be allocated to the same reel in WMS, regardless of the location of the reel in the warehouse.
