OCI OKE (Oracle Kubernetes Engine) Node Pool Instance Status Stuck In UPDATING (Doc ID 2565051.1)

Symptoms

Instances in the node pool are stuck in an "UPDATING - Installing Software" state, with the following error message appears in an alert icon next to the status -

"compute instance was created 97h40m20s ago and has not been seen in k8s nodes for 20m0s - verify network pre-requisites are correct, if so, try terminating the compute instance to trigger a replacement"

Also tried terminating the nodes, but new nodes are spun up but it ended up in the same Updating state.
