Application Language Returning Null

On : 11.13.19.04.0 version, Opportunities
While being logged in Fusion Application with the preferred language, it is required to be able to fetch Oppty information and parse it to a third party application.
The process was tested out by creating a trigger, as described below.
Doing so, the language value comes as null.
def lan =adf.context.getSecurityContext()?.getUserProfile()?.getPreferredLanguage()
The expectancy is to be able to fetch information from Opportunities while logged in with the preferred language and send it to a different application.
