Alias Merging Not Working Correctly With P6 Professional Clickonce Upgrade (Doc ID 2578207.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 21, 2019

Applies to:

Primavera P6 Standard Project and Portfolio Management Cloud Service - Version 19.7 and later
Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Cloud Service - Version 19.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

When P6 Professional is installed using ClickOnce, the application logic for prmbootstrapv2.xml merging (which should be initiated through upgrade) is not working, causing only the aliases from the $P6ProfessionalWorkingDir\TemplatedData folder to be copied into the new %Appdata%\Oracle\Primavera P6\P6 Professional\$newversion\prmbootstrapv2.xml file (ex: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Oracle\Primavera P6\P6 Professional\$newversion\prmbootstrapv2.xml).

For the designed logic of alias merging from a previous version to an upgraded version to initiate properly.

The issue can be reproduced at will using the following steps.

  1. Install P6 Professional through ClickOnce (example using r19.6).
Set the mandatory install option to true.
  2. Once installed, close the P6 Professional Login page.
  3. Download the attached and extract the files into the %Appdata%\Oracle\Primavera P6\P6 Professional\19.6.0 folder.
This is to demonstrate the change to the out-of-box aliases after the initial download.
  4. Upgrade the P6 Professional ClickOnce deployment (example using r19.7).
Set the mandatory install option to true.
  5. Launch the P6 Professional installation on the workstation - this will kick off the mandatory upgrade of the P6 client application.
  6. After the upgrade completes and the login page displays, observe that only the aliases from the working directory are listed.
